Helmsman designed a unique storage solution especially for the Suffolk Police in the shape of a bespoke locker.
With riot gear, belts, hats, boots and seasonal clothing, the current lockers were struggling. Suffolk Police approached us to design the answer to the storage problem of each officer’s various uniforms and equipment and we were pleased to have been given this challenge.
We sent our design team to look at the items to be stored, listen to the customer requirements and within a couple of weeks designed and built a prototype which was accepted by Suffolk Police. This was a double fronted 1775mm high by 500mm deep by 700mm wide locker that contained adjustable shelving, coat hooks and even a mirror on the inside of the door. In addition, a riot bag locker could stand on top or underneath the main locker if needed.
Andy Cutting from Suffolk Police explained what happened when Bury St Edmunds station took delivery of their supply: “Suffolk Police is delighted with the design and end product! Our Bury St Edmunds station has received the first intake and I’m pleased to report that the locker room remains tidy, presentable and our officers can find their uniforms with ease.” We are installing these lockers all over the county thanks to this special Suffolk initiative.”
